Probably not this weekend for us and we also don't have a porch. But I've been collecting images of porches, both open and screened-in, and thought I would share them. There is a screened-in porch on our new-to-us house and I'm collecting ideas for what to do with it. I'm thinking of white-washing the inside of the walls and painting the ceiling a typical robin's egg blue. But all of these are lovely, I think.

My favorite is the 5th picture with the blue ceiling. The colors are calming and exciting at the same time!

Our screened-in porch has the pointy ends of nails sticking out all over the ceiling. Is this common? Someone told me that it was so that the tiles on the roof were easier to maintain. Hmmmm...I think it looks rather unwelcoming. Reminds me of the chokey.

Sarah, If you have a tile or shingle roof, the nails are what are holding the tiles onto the roof. When we want the underside of a roof to have a finished look to it, we either add thicker boards or add another layer of boards so that you can't see the nails.
Yes, the blue and yellow is one of my favorites as well!
